Frequently Asked Questions

How does the intake process work and how long does it take?

Our intake process is very thorough so that we can adequately tailor the program to the participant. We respond to referrals within 2 days of receiving them and like to meet with the participant and their families within one to two weeks of receiving the referral. Once we have gathered all relevant information, we will reach out to the participant and their family to discuss a start date and introduce them to their regular support worker.

Will I get billed if meet and decide the program is not right for me?

Absolutely not. We understand this can be a big decision, particularly if you are changing from another day program. The cost of the initial meet is covered by Function Lifestyle Day Supports.

Who pays for the day program for a participant?

Our day programs are NDIS funded. Depending on how much funding the participant has in their plan for a day program, we can tailor a program that meets their goals and their funding availability.

What kind of things does the day program offer?

As we are individualised, we are guided by your interests! If they choose to do an activity but decide they didn't enjoy it, we will make note of that and won't reschedule that activity. All our activities have a therapeutic undertone with a strengths-based approach to build skills and confidence. Our current participants enjoy swim sessions, community outings, some retail therapy, board games, sensory activities, creative arts, mindfulness, and theme days.

The day programs are overseen by an Occupational Therapist. Does the participant need to change to your program's OT if the participant already has a different OT supporting them?

Absolutely not! We will work with the participant's current OT to find out the information that we require to support them in their day program. The OTs will work together and their OT is welcome to visit the program at any time.

Does the program charge for OT hours in addition to the cost of the day program?

If there are some specific assessments that would benefit your program that haven't been conducted (such as a sensory assessment), we will speak to the participant's support coordinator about an OT fee for this work.

All other OT involvement that the participant receives through their program is part of the day supports we provide and is included in the standard cost of the day program. The participant will therefore be getting free OT input with daily skills that can be transferred into their daily life!

If you are interested in any of our day programs, chat to your Support Coordinator or contact our centre to find out more.
