Program Coordinator/Creative Arts Therapist
What inspired you to pursue a career in supporting individuals with disabilities?
While collaborating with ‘Cultural Canvas Thailand,’ I facilitated Art Therapy workshops for diverse clientele, including individuals with disabilities. The transformative impact of these sessions inspired me deeply, leading me to pursue further studies in disability and integrate this rewarding work into my career.
What is your work history?
My career began in the arts, with a Bachelor of Circus Arts (National Institute of Circus Arts). I toured the United Kingdom, Europe, and Asia as a professional artist. During a yearlong contract in India, my art took a compassionate twist when I discovered the significance of art as therapy. This inspired me to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Experimental and Creative Arts Practice (Melbourne Institute of Creative Arts Therapy) and collaborate with NGOs including Cultural Canvas Thailand, Circus Kathmandu, REWA, RADHA, and CERES. Since returning to Australia, I have worked with Function Lifestyle, where I create and facilitate programs that integrate art therapy, movement, sensory play, and mindfulness.
What do you enjoy most about working in the Function Lifestyle Group programs?
I adore engaging our clients in a multi-modal arts practice, where they can explore self-expression and develop self-reflection and emotional regulation. I particularly enjoy uncovering the deeper layers beneath their brushstrokes and accompanying them through their self-discovery. It is incredibly enriching work that I am so grateful to do.
What particular skills/interests do you have that you can share with the participants?
I bring a passion for creative arts therapy, movement, and mindfulness. My skills lie in utilizing various forms of artistic expression—from visual arts to the dynamic, physical arts of movement and circus—to explore self-expression and foster alignment with one’s inner self. I love integrating mindfulness practices into these expressive modes, supporting clients to anchor in the present moment and cultivate a deeper sense of presence in all that they do.
What are three words to describe your personality?
Passionate. Compassionate. Joyful.
What do you like to do outside of work?
I love rock climbing at my beloved home crag, Djurite (Mount Arapiles).
